About Us
Prayathnam is a forum of young committed dancers and dance teachers dedicated to the idea of ‘illumination’ in the knowledge of both the theory and practice of dance as a medium. We strive to reach out to the dance community, enthusiasts and anyone else interested in the quest to better understanding of the art.
Prayathnam constitutes a community of passionate young dancers and dance educators united by their devotion to the concept of ‘illumination’ in the comprehension of both the theory and application of dance as an expressive form. Our aim is to engage with the dance community, enthusiasts, and individuals intrigued by the pursuit of a deeper understanding of this artistic discipline.
Awarding Title
A unique title is awarded for the student toppers in the yathnam examination. Bharatakalamani - Level 6 and Lateral level 2 Yathnapraveena- lateral level 1
Program
Nritya Samarpanam Performance opportunities given for toppers and non- toppers of level 6 and lateral level 2 .
Paper Presentation
Paper presentations on various topics both onsite and online are facilitated by Prayathnam. This is to update teachers and students on core concepts and creative endeavors.
Objective
- To broaden the scope of learning by conducting workshops amidst seasoned and experienced professionals.
- To institute a diploma course for 1-6 levels with specific syllabus and assessment with graded certification given by Prayathnam and recognized by a reputed body.
- To institute scholarships awarded by Prayathnam to the most serious student and best performers of the year in performance and theory.
- To make provision to facilitate compilation of theory notes to be used for advanced students of dance.
- To draw guidelines on the requisites of a dance school recognized by Prayathnam.
- To go to local schools and rural areas to conduct workshops, lecture demonstrations and quiz competitions.
- To collate a database for existing songs and their lyrics with their respective inferences.

Developments & Trends. A river which flows takes in tributaries & sends out distributaries. Teachers at Prayathnam, similarly keep updating their knowledge through various activities like workshops, lectures, etc. which are organised from time to time. This not only helps them in updating but also gives confidence and direction to their role as teachers in molding the younger generation.

The orientation on the theory syllabus is conducted before the Yathnam exams for all levels (both online and direct ) which is very helpful for students who can revise the syllabus as well as clear their doubts and understand the pattern of the examination.

Prayathnam has a prescribed syllabus based on the students level of learning which also facilitates the teaching learning process. Exams are conducted in theory and practicals along with oral and project submission. The students are examined by 2 examiners in various levels. Toppers are selected and they are awarded.
